  1. Driving to Nicaragua was a disaster (traffic)...but at the border it was the worst part.   It was about over 2 hours in different lines.

2. After the border, we drove through Nicaragua for about an hour and a half.  There were lots of pink trees, shacks, crosses on the road and a big beautiful sunset.  Then, at last, we arrived! 3. Also driving to Nicaragua, we saw the Isla Ometepe, Concepcione volcano and the Mederas volcano out in the HUGE lake.  And near Granada there is the Mombacho volcano and the Masaya volcano. Lets talk about the “SUBJECT” (Granada!) 4. Granada is sort of like Antigua (in Guatemala) in some ways. The streets are narrow and cobblestoned and there are lots of old colonial buildings.  But it is near the big shiny deep lake. In Granada the people sit outside on chairs and relax. I like that at night the weather is warm and not cold like Costa Rica. In Nicaragua there are a lot of people that try to sell stuff on the streets. There is a lot of poverty.

  1. In Granada I like how the streets are made of cobblestone. In Granada there are a lot of cafés. Near Semana Santa (holy week) there are a lot of floats and people carrying crosses or in purple cloaks. Easter is huge in Nicaragua. In Granada there is a little breeze because of the lake which looks exactly like an ocean so when we were at the boat tour I said “I feel like I am in the ocean’’. In Granada there are a lot of churches and cathedrals. In a night tour you can see bats and lava at the masaya volcano. The Laguna de Apoyo is the best place to swim.
