ON MY BIRTHDAY WE HAD A PIÑATA AT THE SCHOOL.
Not sure why blog is cutting off Jack's head but any-who. The kids MADE this piñata as a foursome. Lia named him "woof-woof the dog." Liadan attacking "woof-woof" the piñata. The aftermath (Casa Xalteva has both a Spanish language school AND an after-school program for local Nicaraguan kids...thus the big group of kiddos at Liadan's "fiesta!"
AND WE DID MUSICAL CHAIRS!
Liadan playing Musical Chairs with the local kids and a few of the volunteers.
THE NICARAGUAN KIDS AT THE SCHOOL LINED UP AND ALL GAVE ME CARDS. THEN THEY ALL SANG TO ME. I FELT STRANGE WHEN A MAN SANG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME ON GUITAR.
First the Nicaraguan kids and teachers sang a traditional bday song. Then one of the students at the language school serenaded Liadan with a mellow rendition of "Happy Birthday"
WE ALSO FOUND TWO LITTLE CATS ON THE STREET ON MY BIRTHDAY.
The bag Audrey found on the street outside the school. We walked all over the place to find a vet and paid to bath and feed them for a couple of days. Then we posted them on an ex-pat site and said where to get them. Hopefully there is a retiree "cat lady" in town. : (
THEN WE WENT SWIMMING. THEN WE HAD DINNER. MY MOM AND DAD GAVE ME A CAKE THAT SAID "FELIX CUMPLEAÑOS LIALIADAN" (?!?!!!!!!). : )
Liadan reading Ella's card. Liadan thanking Charlie for his card and gift Lia and her biggest biggie brother Latinos never get the idea of nicknames BASED on names (shortened versions, etc.). Thus Jack ended up labeled "JohnJack" by his peers in Costa Rica. And the bakery turned "her name is Liadan but you can put Lia on the cake" and turned that into "Lialiadan" (all one word). : ) Lia fakes going in for a big bite Feliz cumpleaños to our big SEVEN year old!!
