Things between Thanksgiving and Christmas (by Liadan, Age 6)

[Dad note: Although Charlie has volunteered to write the next post, Liadan continues to be our champion "blog entry" writer. This time around I think I'll do the typing, though...gets the post up faster and lets her feel like an 1800's Captain of Industry dictating correspondence to her able assistant! Before I turn things over to Lia --- at the bottom of this entry there is a link to a video clip from the European School Christmas Concert but for some reason the link only works some of the time. I'm going to insert the same link here as well...I figure I'll double the chances you can click on it without a problem!] [button link="http://youtu.be/ynGZWjJj3h4 " newwindow="yes"] LinkToSchoolChristmasConcertYouTube[/button]

Hi everyone. It's Lia and I'm back for the THIRD time because I like writing blogs! This time I'm going to tell you some things we did in November and before Christmas.
We had our own Thanksgiving. We had school that day and I got to go to the Children's Museum with my class and I really liked it. I especially liked digging up fossils. For dinner on Thanksgiving we had chicken (because mom and dad didn't want to make a whole turkey)!
[Dad caption...the weather on Thanksgiving was a bit different than what we were used to back in Boston!] [Dad caption --- Charlie pretending to be a restaurant worker during post-Thanksgiving dinner clean up]When we got our Christmas tree, we went to a tree farm near us and got to pick out a tree that was still in the ground!
Me at the tree farm.
Then we decorated. First we hung lights and when Granna came, we made strings of popcorn and cranberries!
Hanging lights. Me and Ella and our tree.[Dad insert...Liadan mentioned her field trip, which reminded me that Jack and Ella got to go on cool field trips to pick coffee at one of the area coffee farms. It's coffee picking season in the area! What struck me the most when talking to the kids afterwards was the fact that they didn't think this was that unique or different. As they get more and more used to life down here they don't even think twice about spending a day picking coffee beans with their friends and classmates!?!] [Dad caption --- Coffee pickers down the street from our house]OK. Dad is done interrupting me. It's Liadan again.
We also went to a Christmas show. It was called "El Ogro De Las Nieves." It was a play in Spanish. It was my favorite play ever!
Me, two elves and the abominable snowman ("el ogre de las nieves") At the show with my family. [Dad caption -- outside the theater you could buy tickets to let the kids roll around in one of these bubbles in a pool].Our school does a big Christmas Show. Every kid plays an instrument. Violin or cello or recorder or ocarina. I play the ocarina. The day of the Christmas Show, I had a play date before with my friend Maria Jose. We played barbies.
At the school on the wall the art club hung up pictures. We could go see them before the show. I like my doc picture!

Before the Christmas show I saw all my friends in the classroom.
Me and my friends before the show (tiny Sophie, Maria Jose, Jimena, me and Daniel jumping in the back) Ella's class at the show. Jack's class. My class. The school.
My dad tried to take a video of the last song. All the violins played and the other kids sang a round. [Dad note...first time really trying the video camera function of the camera...as you can see I need to work on my filming skills. But you'll get the point. The entire concert was amazing but there was something very peaceful and cool about the final song...][button link="http://youtu.be/ynGZWjJj3h4 " newwindow="yes"] LinkToSchoolChristmasConcertYouTube[/button]
It's Liadan again. The last thing I'll say about things we did before Christmas is that right before Christmas, we went to my neighbors house and the dad gave me a yummy pastry! Yum!
Yum!
Goodbye until the next time I write again!
