Poas (Day Trip)

A few pics from a quick day trip to Poas.  If you want to “get in and get out” there is a quick, paved, handicap-accessible trail to the main crater.  If you luck out and get there on a clear day (tough when you are literally at cloud level in a very cloudy part of the world) you can see the creepy green lake of the live-crater.  Even when you don’t get to see it (we didn’t) you can definitely SMELL it (the sulfur smell is STRONG).

If you are up for a bit of a hike (nothing crazy) you can also check out the dead crater with “Botos Lagoon” in it.  We did the hike backwards (heading to Botos first) so we DID get to see Botos before the clouds came roaring in.

Hike was nice, too.  Charlie, in particular, was “Mr. Observant” — using the binoculars to check out birds, etc.  Both Jack and Charlie are quite good at spotting things hidden in the trees.  Wish I could say the same for me!
